Follow the Lights
Anyone who has witnessed the majesty of the aurora borealis will tell you it’s an experience that stays with you. No wonder it’s one of the primary reasons many people want to head into northern winters. Our 18-day small group journey through Norway, Finland and Estonia explores cities, charming hamlets and the Flåm Railway before sailing north from Bergen towards the Barents Sea. As we get closer to North Cape, prepare yourself for Mother Nature’s ultimate light show. Back on land, there’s also the opportunity to spend the night in a glass igloo from where you can watch the illuminated night sky. Hurtigruten’s Follow The Lights tour departs regularly from September to March, and there’s also a 14-day southbound option.

Northern Norway is one of the best, and most reliable, places in the world to see the northern lights. We sail in the auroral zone above the Arctic Circle, an area of intense northern lights activity around the North Pole. That means more chances to see the aurora multiple times in multiple locations. The northern lights season lasts from 1 October to 31 March within this region. We are so confident that the lights will appear on your voyage with us in this period, that we make our guests this exclusive promise. If the lights don’t appear, we will give you a six- or seven-day Classic Voyage free for another chance to see them.

All Hurtigruten expedition voyages are fun and sociable experiences, which is perfect if you’re planning to take your next holiday alone. And, for a limited time, there are a number of cruises for which you can book a cabin to yourself and pay no single supplement. If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring Antarctica or even Central America, but were worried about doing it alone, now’s your chance to take the leap of faith.
